Set in the open pastures of Drummond, Victoria, the Mingela Polo Residence by FGR Architects is a flat, pavilion-style home designed to dissolve into the Australian landscape.

The structure appears to hover above the terrain, defined by a floating concrete deck and floor-to-ceiling glazing on three sides. Long eaves provide shade and frame panoramic views of polo fields, pastures, and scattered eucalypts.

Polished concrete, marble, and glass set a minimalist tone, while custom bronze hardware adds subtle warmth. A cantilevered pool and sunken fire pit extend the living areas outdoors, strengthening the home’s seamless connection between shelter and open land.

The kitchen is a highlight of the interior’s flexible planning. A monumental marble island anchors the main space, while full-height cabinets with pocket doors conceal a second working kitchen behind. This dual arrangement keeps the primary area pared back and gallery-like, while allowing everyday function to remain hidden when not in use.
